Help us answer “Why K.O. ketchup is so special” and win a year supply.
We received a comment on Facebook that, while aggressive and a bit random, did pose two interesting questions:
- What makes K.O. so special? and
- What makes us think we’re going to make it in today’s market?
The commenter cited that our “marketing team” hasn’t done its homework because (and get ready for a random percentage) 67% of people don’t like change.
We don’t usually get negative comments on K.O.’s Facebook Page so obviously this one made us pause to think, why attack small business? Especially in this economy? This is still America right? Where you can open a business (based on an idea, product or service), work hard, offer value and “make it.” I guess that may depend on what “make it” means to you.
So we decided to answer these questions. Not for the disgruntled commenter, but for us and for you – our friends and fans. So we figured, who better to help us answer number 1 than all of you who seem to have found something unique and “special” about our product? But first, let us take a shot at explaining where we stand on question number 2: how we know that our small business has “made it.”

Question 2. What makes us think we’re going to make it in today’s market?
K.O. will have “made it” when:
This is a product we made in our home kitchen and took to picnics. People requested it. So we packed it up in mason jars and gave it out as gifts. Some people give jars of jam at Christmas or homemade cookies…we gave ketchup. And when our friends, and friends of friends, encouraged us to bottle it up and maybe sell it at the grocery store, we did.
So we say, to the commenter from Facebook, all of the above and more has happened in the year since we launched K.O. We just signed on 128 more stores*. We hired a few more awesome employees.
In our eyes, we made it. But thanks for the reminder of how far we’ve come!

the flavor ….it’s versatility of what you can add it to and the fact I can use it for basting meats as they are grilling and it STILL taste AWESOME!!!!!!…especially steak and chicken!!!!!

I had a chance to try some of your Ketchup at a friends house recently, and I loved it!
I love the flavors and you don’t get them in a traditional Ketchup by other manufacturers.
The spices and tomatoes you use are top notch, and it will complement just about any dish that uses Ketchup, and it will make a good marinade and add on to many recipes.
You have a great product, and I for one would love to have some in my kitchen to eat on lots of different foods.

While it is a fact that 67% of all statistics are made up, in a recent study performed by the NOOOKOF (National Organization of One K.O. Fan) it was found that 99% of all humanity thoroughly enjoyed K.O. Ketchup. The 1% that “did not like” K.O. Ketchup was actually unable to speak after the sheer joy of experiencing KO.

K.O Ketchup is so special because it is unique!!! It’s not the same ol, same ol ketchup. It gives you a lil something extra that seems to jazz up that burger a li more!
What makes K.O. Ketchup so special? It has a BBQ sauce flavor, but still has a ketchup taste. This gives foods like french fries and hamburgers the flavor it needs…You don’t need to add other condiments once you have K.O. Ketchup on your food!
Why do I think that K.O. Ketchup is going to make it in today’s market? I think that this ketchup brand will make it because it is made with LESS ingredients…not MORE. I’m finding that sometimes, Less is more. Besides, people need to be able to read what ingredients are in their foods..If you can’t read or understand an ingredient is, should it be in your food? NO. K.O. Ketchup’s ingredients are all basic ingredients, and we can understand what they are!
I am not writing this because I am looking to win. We received a sample from your company several months back and used it and really liked it. Good on a variety of dishes and sandwiches. Once you get this out and have some sampling in the markets I am sure it will be a positive response. It will take time but doesn’t all business’s take time! K.O. is special for many reasons. 1. They were not afraid to step outside the box when making their product. They stepped away from the look and flavor of the mainstream ketchups to create an incredible product. 2. The flavor adds to a lot of recipes and makes an awesome ingredient for sauces and marinades. 3. Being a small business the small batch processing makes for a superior tasting product.. No need for fancy packaging or bells and whistles when the flavor does all the talking…

Let me tell you why you’re so special to us. We have found a multi-purpose sauce that the entire family agrees is amazingly delicious. My husband- A-1 (bleh) Me, Heinz 57, my son, Heinz ketchup. We all love the extremely unique K.O. Ketchup so much, it’s the only thing that I would ever consider using from fries to ribeyes and beyond. We have used it in chili, we have whipped up a delicious smokey dip and spread by adding sour cream, we’ve basted ribs, chicken, even Salmon! My husband is probably the most stubborn person ever, and very brand loyal, so it’s really saying something that we only use KO. Whenever we entertain, we get questioned all the time “I can’t believe this is so delicious! What is it!?!”. I haven’t come across a single person who is supposedly in that so called 67%.
As an extra bonus, I love the packaging, your Facebook page is fun, and anyone I’ve ever dealt with at your company is fantastic! It would be like Christmas if we won a year supply!!!!!!!! I’m not even kidding.

KO Ketchup is different, it has a taste that is different from other ketchups. It tastes like a cross between ketchup and bbq sauce. I have not found anything that it does not taste good on. I also like the little bit of a spicy kick that it provides. I think you should promote it as a non-ketchup alternative!
I received a free bottle of K.O. Ketchup awhile back and not only did I love it but my entire family loved it to. While there are many brands of Ketchup available K.O. stand out because of its unique flavor, I really can’t compare it to any other ketchup out there because it has such a unique flavor to it. And I was also impressed with the packaging and the fact that when I read the ingredients I would no only pronounce all the words but I knew what they all were to. K.O. is special because they were not afraid to do something different in a market where so many other brands all taste and look the same.
K.O. is special because it is different. It actually has a flavor to it and a really nice one. Instead of having to add spices, pepper or whatever to my fries and veg as well as ketchup I can use K.O. and the taste needs no sprinklings from my spice rack. It’s wonderful in all recipes that call for ketchup or a tomato base. I found that some pinto beans, a dash of mustard and K.O. was all that I needed to make some baked beans which my whole family loved. I must be one on the 37% that do like change because I love K.O.

I dont know what they were thinking I love my ol trusted brand that is not KO Ketchup but to put a twist on things I love the new KO Ketchup too it give a special kick to old recipes that call for just plan old Ketchup try it in you favorite recipes and see if you dont think its good I love it in all of mine but my French Fries still get my trusted ol brand
this product is very low in sugar .. and for most diets these days sugar is a no no especially diabetics ..and people who had weight loss surgery.. i think this product it also great for many dishes and meals as well and children will love it

My mom recieved a bottle of K.O. Ketchup from the free bottle program a few months ago and I loved it. It goes with anything from hamburgers to meatballs to using as a nice mix with rice. Once more people are able to expirence the flavor and the versatility of your product you will make it in this economy. You hit a homerun with this product!
I received a full size KO Ketchup in mail as sample a few months ago. I personally love it very much and so does everyone in my family. I would use it on everything that I eat from sandwiches to grilled sausages. It has this special taste that other ketchup in the market does not have. My sample is finishing soon and I would really love to see it on the shelf of Walmart or Target nearby soon! It’s a great ketchup and everyone deserves to try it!
I love KO Ketchup. I like the fact that it has a spicier kick than regular ketchup. My kids alsolike it and they are the worlds toughest food critics. I recently tried the sample of K.O. Ketchup and I would definitely purchase it in the future. The actual sample was a full size bottle, and a glass bottle at that! I thought the fact that the bottle was glass was amazing. I remember when all ketchup was in the glass bottles. It brought me back to the days when I was younger. The taste was also amazing. First of all, I am quite impressed that you chose to use glass bottles! Nothing beats a glass container! Second, with the wide variety of condiments on the market, Ketchup is not one that there is much selection of, especially that taste as good as yours! Third, but most important, the taste of K.O. Ketchup is unbeatable with the perfect blend of spices used in it, it makes any meal complete! From burgers and fries to meatloaf and I’ve even eaten my eggs with it, my whole family loves it and I have been keeping an extra bottle hidden so I never run out! Well good afternoon to all there i rec. your bottle of K.O.Ketchup and was completely floored i have had all the tastes of different brands for many years you guys have outdone yourselfs that afternoon i put it in the fridge went shopping came home made a batch of fries and wow what a different taste grabber all those secret goodies you put in there OMG i ran out about 3 days later went and got some more and tried it on a bunch of foods ie.burgers,meatloaf,fried potatoes,hot dogs,and one other food spanish rice that called for ketchup i am totally sold on you ketchup not a single drop goes to waste here Thank You for a great ketchup
My Hubby and I really like K.O. Ketchup. It has a slightly tangy flavor and is not a carbon copy of all the other ketchups on the market today. We believe that is what will make K.O. a tremendous success. We have had several cookouts this summer and many of our guests have asked where they could purchase K.O. We would like to see K.O. Ketchup on the shelves of our local stores so that we could keep our pantry stocked. We have enjoyed K.O. on burgers, hot dogs, snadwiches, fries, and tator tots. What makes K.O. so special?
K.O. is the cool guy at the party. He has style, class and lots of taste for everyone to enjoy! I love the glass bottle. After my bottle is empty (which is traumatic!) I can use the bottle to put colored sand or water in to decorate. You can do all kinds of things to recycle it and have fun at the same time. It’s cool packaging makes regular ketchup jealous.
He has taste. It has just enough kick to be able to add it to pretty much anything! My favorite is a burger off the grill. The K.O. that drips off the burger is awesome to dip the fries into. It just makes you feel good inside. Everyone wants to invite K.O. to dinner!
He’s just different. I haven’t tried anything else from my grocery store that compares. Look at the ingredients, K.O. uses whole vine ripened tomatoes, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar and other amazing spices. Not concentrates, corn syrup and such. You can taste the difference!

I originally got this as a free sample for my husband, and one night tried some with my fries, and I was shocked to find out how much I loved it! Normally, I don’t like ketchup, and will dip fries in either barbecue sauce, or steak sauce, but K.O. has that perfect zing that keeps you coming back for more. I was able to try KO Ketchup when you guys were nice enough to have that HUGE giveaway in April. I was expecting a small bottle to come to me, but instead got a FULL – Sized bottle. That’s when I knew you all were serious. You gave away 2,400 Full-Sized bottles to your fans. Obviously you wanted us to REALLY be able to test this product out and find different ways to use it .For that I am thankful.
The Ketchup came packaged nice and tightly and I didn’t really have to wait too long for it. I was unsure about the glass bottle at first [because I can be kinda clumsy at times], but I have decided I really like it .
The day I got it I made french fries and used K.O. to dip on them. I didn’t realize that wasn’t exactly it’s purpose. When eating it on fries it had a bit of bite, and I could really taste the Cilantro.
However, I don’t give up too easily and was determined that this sauce was going to make something taste scrumptious. I crossed my fingers that night when I decided to make Meatloaf and use K.O. instead of Worcestershire Sauce. After all, I knew I would be doing a review at some point, and I really don’t like giving negative feedback..
The meatloaf was WONDERFUL!! K.O. Ketchup gave it flavor that was just- well, wonderful. My fiance also raved over the meatloaf ,which I don’t get much often when I cook. I have also used it in hamburgers and a few other things. This Sauce gives things a flavor like you’ve never had before. I don’t know how else to describe it. Now I am going to have to make meatloaf tomorrow so that I can use it 🙂 Thanks so much for giving my taste buds a chance to try this!
No matter what, we all have to stand up to critisicm in our lifetime. I respect and admire that you have not “lashed out” nor whimpered away from the harshness of the commentator. I think you should be very proud of what you have accomplished. I have to admit, I received a free bottle during a promotion, and decided that was that, what does my opinion matter. But, your post and this situation makes me realize: I am a consumerer and, possibly, an influencer. I found your ketchup to be very zesty and bold. I have used it to make bbq sauce, soppy joes, tacos, ectc. I do not buy or ingest mainstream ketchup, because I know of the health hazards involved. Some people are just uninformed, and cannot accept change or new alternatives to old standards. Don’t stop what you are doing! So what if people keep buying what is cheap, unhealthy and kid “unfriendly”. You don’t always have to appeal to the masses to be special. I tend to think it’s the other way around.

KO Ketchup is special because of it has an extra special tangy taste that makes it different than other ketchups on the market. You offer a quality product at a good price. You also have wonderful customer service. You seem like a company the really cares about the consumer. When you had the bottle giveaway. It wasn’t just a little sample, but a bottle big enough to for the family to use for several meals. And when my got damaged in shipping, totally not your fault, you resent me another one. I received a free bottle a couple months ago and YUM!!! Being a busy mom with 7 kids I’m all about good food for my kids that is quick and taste good! I have used KO ketchup in some recipes and as sauce to use for nuggets, fries, etc…. and any way the kids eat it, they love it!!! (I used it on meatloaf instead of regular ketchup~ HUGE success with the picky eaters in my family!) Thank you for making a product that taste GREAT!!!!!
I think what makes KO Ketchup so unique is it’s bold taste and the fact that it is in a bottle. You see, anything made and packaged in a bottle retains its flavor. Don’t ever change a thing. I love the bold, spicy flavor and have actually hidden the ketchup in my fridge so everybody thinks it is gone because it is not in any stores in SC yet.
KO is special because it is better than ketchup. It is so different that I added to my recipes. I use KO for my hamburgers and with my chicken. It changes my recipes all around. It give the right spice and flavor. I love the glass bottle, it is original and makes your brand unique because regular ketchup comes in plastic bottles. I reused the glass bottle( for decoration) and now I have it in my kitchen with different spices and water inside.
In conclusion, Ko is the new product that will improve any recipe so if you are looking for ordinary ketchup KO is not for you but if you are looking for extraordinary KO will be your best choice!!!!
K.o ketchup is the best ketchup I have ever eaten I usually don’t like ketchup but when I tried k.o I was hooked I put k.o on just about everything and when there is a good bbq going on I def use it to marinate my meats for the grill k.o on the grill is like heaven yummmooo I will never buy any of ketchup againt except for k.o ketchup I love it cause it has a unique taste and that perfect kick my kids even love it. KO Ketchup is special in many ways. 1) The ketchup is thicker than most ketchup products 2) The company uses ingredients that the customer can read and understand, which makes the product generally more healthy than other products 3) The product is geared for people who need to watch their diet.
I think that KO Ketchup will make it in today’s market because: 1) the Ketchup has a unique flavor, and you can use it for everything! 2) You can use it as a barbeque sauce or as a ketchup 3) People with special diets are more than likely to buy this product.

The product looks great, has quality taste & is affordable. It is a good alternative to the ketchup you get at a fast food restaurant, to the ketchup you keep in your fridge.. Heinz ketchup. I think K.O ketchup has a lot more flavor I have used it with cooking & you can tell the difference. It is potent & a delicious product. I trust small company’s such as K.O because they take their time with contests such as these only to improve the product & how they market it. This tells me they are a hard working/focused company that care about their customers. Simply put this ketchup has a bit more of a kick and variety then any other ketchup I have tried. Yes I could make my own mixed version of Ketchup but frankly Im busy and don’t plan like that. There are thousands of flavors of mustard, soda etc. K.O. fills a void in diversity with ketchup.
I received my sample in the mail and was surprised that I had a normal size bottle. I was very impressed. The taste is so unique and I have never tasted a ketchup that was so savory. I took the bottle to a fish fry with friends and everyone loved it! It does not overpower with the tomato taste that other products have.
In todays market I believe the unique flavor will be a major selling point. There is no other product that I am aware of with this great flavor. Everyone seems to use plastic bottles, not good for the environment. And I didn’t throw away my glass bottle when it was empty, I put it in the cabinet for that rainy day art project. Another great point is the ‘gluten free’ on the bottle. My daughter is gluten intolerant so we must find gluten free products. Thank you K.O. for a great product!

What makes K.O. Ketchup so special is that it has FLAVOR and it’s not predictable in taste! I mean you have traditional ketchups but this by far stands out the best and is my family’s favorite! 1. KO is special because it is the most versatile condiment out there. It can be used to marinate, dip, bbq, and even season. The special combination of spices and flavor blend to create the perfect knockout punch over any other type of ketchup.
2. The rich, smoky flavor and the distinctive glass bottle will stand out in a field of bland, pasty ketchups. The industry will need to play catch up (ketchup) in order to beat KO once people try it.
